Bengaluru: Ten thousand employees working with Bharat Electronics Limited ( BEL ) will get new uniforms effective Monday. The move comes 37 years after the defence PSU first introduced uniforms for its staff. As per a statement issued from the BEL headquarters in Bengaluru, the new uniforms were unveiled by CMD Bhanu Prakash Srivastava during a business workshop held in Kasauli, Himachal Pradesh.

BEL partnered with the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Bengaluru, to redesign and modernise the uniforms for over 10,000 male and female employees across the country. “A uniform is not just a dress, it’s an ethos, the distinguishing character, sentiment and guiding belief of a person, group or institution. A uniform plays a crucial role in enhancing brand identity.

It serves as a visual representation of a company’s ethos, values and professionalism,” the statement read. The new uniform for men features shirts combining pantone shades of “surf the web blue” and “nimbus cloud grey”, paired with trousers in “mood indigo” shade. Women employees have been provided with options, including trousers with tops, saris and blouses, and salwars.
