An event celebrating anime culture, tentatively named Mela! Mela! Anime Japan!!, is set to take place in New Delhi this September during Japan Month. As reported by Asian Community News , the event is a collaboration between public and private sectors. Mela! Mela! Anime Japan!! will showcase anime, manga, games, figures, novels, and cosplay booths, along with exhibitions of various Japanese IPs.
Proposed features include concerts by anime song artists and voice actors, workshops on “oshi-katsu” (fan activities), and booth exhibitions by Japanese companies, which will also offer a meet-up space for B2B commercial interactions. The organisers expect 10,000 visitors to attend Mela! Mela! Anime Japan!!, and will also feature cosplay competitions, karaoke contests, as well as screenings of anime films and shows in collaboration with Japanese Film Festival (JFF). There will also be cosplay workshops, photo booths, and exhibitions from various Japanese companies.
An exhibition in collaboration with Wonder Festival , a semi-annual Japanese event focusing on garage kits and sponsored by the Kaiyodo manufacturing company, will also be at the event. This exhibition will feature various statues and figurines. According to the Embassy website , the tentative date of the event is set to be September 28 and 29, 2024.
