Gigi Percival’s 3rd birthday was a sign of the times — or at least, a phase in time. featuring her recent party highlights a celebration made up of metal, plastic and paper signs of all manners and shapes. “Toilet” and “Caution” signs plastered the walls and doors, “Slippery When Wet” and “Watch For Children” cookies lined platters and there was even a “No Smoking” birthday cake complete with red, white and black icing.

The Instagram video of Gigi’s sign-themed birthday party has over 819K likes and thousands of comments since her father, Adam Percival, shared it in March. Speaking to TODAY.com, Percival, who lives in New Zealand, says his daughter's recent passion for all signs began six months earlier when he, his wife and Gigi were traveling by plane around the Christmas season.

“She had her first flight, and as she was sitting down in her seat, she looked up and saw the ‘No Smoking’ sign above the seat, and there was the seatbelt sign as well. And she was asking me about what they were, ‘What are signs?’” he explains. “And from that moment .

.. it just really sparked the interest of the signs that are all around us.

” Percival says it’s often the case for him and his wife to lean into his daughter’s passions. He was the one who suggested the sign-themed party. “(Children) see things just from such a beautiful perspective and as simple as loving signs,” he adds.
