2 killed in Barishal road accidents An elderly man and a college student were killed in two separate road accidents in Barishal city on Sunday. The deceased were identified as Ahidul Islam, 16, a ninth grader of Talukdar Hat School and College, and Md Sohrab Hossain Howlader, 80, a resident of Sher-E-Bangla road in the city. Abdur Rahman Mukul, officer in-charge of Naval Police Station Barishal Sadar, said Ahidul was going returning home after completing classes by a auto-ricksahw around 3:00 pm.

Ahidul was crushed under the vehicle after the auto-rickshaw overturned in Talukdar Hat Mor area, leaving him critically injured. He was rescued and rushed to Barishal Sher-E-Bangla Medical College and Hospital where on-duty doctors declared him dead, the OC added. Meanwhile, a covered-van ran over Sohrab Hossain in Amtoli Mor area of the city around 12:00 pm while he was riding a motorcycle to Amtoli, leaving him dead on the spot.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Barishal Sher-E-Bangla Medical College and Hospital for autopsy, said Biplab Kumar Mistry, inspector (investigation) of Kotwali Model Police Station. Legal steps are under process in this regard, the police official added. MN/MB.
