A witness was intimidated after a murder trial of a Grimsby man, a court heard. Stephen Beach, then 38, of Ashbourne Court, Scunthorpe, and Luke Teague, then 39, of Runswick Road, Grimsby, denied murdering Stephen Bellamy on April 26. 2021, but were both convicted and jailed for life in 2022 .
Beach had used a garden fork to strike Stephen Bellamy on the head. After the court sentencing, Thomas Day, 37, College Road, Doncaster, sent a Facebook message to one of the witnesses on January 17, 2022. Prosecuting, Richard Butters said the complainant had given evidence at the trial of the two men. She had given birth after the sentencing and was at home caring for the newborn child. The message had been sent under the alias "Tim Day" and accused her of lying.
He said he knew where she lived and threatened to harm her and the baby. Mr Butters read the victim impact statement on behalf of the complainant, in which she said the horrific crime and the subsequent court trial had "taken a lot of happiness out of her life". She said after the life sentences were handed out at court, she thought it was the end of the matter.
She said she did not know who had sent the message but presumed it was a fri.
