Warburtons Ltd came through the cost of living crisis in the UK and the war in Ukraine last year to deliver more than double its pre-tax profit in the previous year. The Bolton-based baked goods giant delivered a pre-tax profit of £29.8 million in the 12 months to September 30 up from £13.

The increase of more than 120 per cent cannot be attributed to Warburtons Ltd's ad campaign starring Samuel L Jackson as it appeared on social media and on TV around a week before the end of the period in question. Instead it can be attributed to an increase of more than £100 million in turnover as well as "cost management".
All this despite the cost of living crisis in the UK and the war in Ukraine which it said saw "inflationary increases" in the cost of ingredients as well as energy and fuel.
