If people violate this order, they could face a £100 fixed penalty or potentially a £1,000 fine if their offence goes to court. Before the order was put in place, a consultation was launched and 76 per cent of residents were in favour of these measures.
The council said the order could be extended to other town centre car parks if necessary. The order is currently in place for three years. A spokesman for Crawley Borough Council said: "A period of investigation and public consultation found that antisocial behaviour had been recorded or reported within multi-storey car parks in the town centre which left some car park users feeling unsafe and supportive of the council’s proposal to tackle it.
" Councillor Bob Noyce, cabinet member for environment, sustainability and climate change, said: "Our car parks play a vital role in the economic vitality of the town centre in Crawley and the income made from parking charges pays for services to be delivered. "I ho.
