Wellbeing experts say there is a psychological value to naming your baby bump as the top 25 'bump names' are revealed. 'Peanut', 'Bean' and 'Berry' are the most common nicknames parents-to-be give their baby bump. Six in ten mums and dads – 60 per cent - name their bump with 'Nugget', 'Bambi' and 'Pickle' the next most frequently chosen monikers.
Other popular picks during pregnancy include 'Wiggler', 'Fidget' and Squish', researchers found. Overall, the nation’s favourite bump nickname is ‘Peanut’, used by one in ten expectant couples. 'Buddy', Beansprout', 'Bubba' and 'Bumpy' also feature in the top 25 along with 'Toad', 'Shrimp', 'Mouse' and 'Mango'.
For seven in ten parents – 71 per cent – the bump's nickname sticks and they continue to use it well after the birth.
