A new phase of road works are set to begin in Farnworth taking place over the course of ten months. The Transport for Greater Manchester Streets For All phase one works will begin on Market Street on June 24, this will include road and pavement works focused between Peel Street and Russell Street – with new footway paving and carriageway resurfacing. According to the plans an array of improvements will be made to the junction once the works are completed.

This includes a new and improved public space outside the Home Bargains on Councill Square, to support the community events programme throughout the year. The redevelopment will also see improved drainage along Market Street and there will be added traffic management measures on Market Street and adjoining streets to ensure the safety of all road users.
