Plan comes after previous commitment to build new clinical research facility Building on its plans to construct a new state-of-the-art innovation centre and clinical research facility, Tallaght University Hospital has launched a new five-year research and innovation strategy. The document is part of the hospital’s plans to facilitate the rapid translation of research and innovation to the healthcare system. “Until now research and innovation have been operating as separate departments at TUH,” said the hospital’s head of research Dr Sadhbh O’Neill Scanlon .
“With the research strategy being reviewed it is timely for research and innovation to merge. The purpose of this document is to highlight the priority areas for the research and innovation strategy over the next five years (2024-2029). It means that all research and innovation will now happen under the umbrella of ‘Innovate Health’ at TUH.
” Launching the strategy, TUH deputy CEO John Kelly said: “We will continue to innovate around what we traditionally do and also look at new avenues that we can explore to improve patient care and support staff. We will work with our partners to scale innovative solutions nationally and internationally.” The strategy builds on ‘Innovate Health’ which TUH launched in 2022.
It was set up as a gateway through which government, industry and academic partners can work in partnership with the hospital in translating clinical research to the real-world setting and deve.
