A Sussex village shop said to be at the heart of its local community has been named the best in the UK as part of an awards ceremony dubbed the 'Rural Oscars'. Fittleworth Village Stores in West Sussex won the category at the 2024 Countryside Alliance Awards which revealed their national winners on Tuesday (June 25). Earlier in the year it won Best Village Shop in the South East of England as part of the awards, which meant they got to compete at the national champions reception at the House of Lords.
