With Brighton Fringe, the festival and all sorts of events last month, the city – and county – was alive with the buzz of “performance”, our competition theme. We received a brilliant range of images from our camera club members across Sussex who took the theme in their stride, capturing magical moments from live shows and dramatic scenes in nature. As ever, it was tough to pick just a few runners-up and crown one snapper the winner.

We loved Leah Parkes’s shot from the Lady Boys of Bangkok, a staple in Brighton with its vibrant pink big top in Victoria Gardens. The performer’s glittering costume caught the light and sparkled gloriously.
