I’m an early bird and that comes from a 20-year career of commuting to Belfast. I used to get up at 5.30am when I worked in the city, but even now I typically get up at 6am.

As part of the British Business Bank’s UK Network Team, if I’m not working from home, I’m often travelling to all corners of Northern Ireland meeting with stakeholders and partners in the access to finance ecosystem. At the weekends I do enjoy a lie-in but still get up around 7.30am.



Brunch. As the mother of two teenage boys who enjoy their lie-ins, it is rare everyone is up in time to have breakfast, especially at the weekends. At the weekends brunch is a treat and it’s a lovely opportunity to go out and spend some time together – pancake stacks at Ashvale Farm Shop [in Lisburn] are a favourite.

I have two golfers in my family, my husband Alan and my eldest son Ekin, and they will normally disappear on a Saturday to play. My youngest son, Oliver, is a bit of a fashionista who loves to shop, so Saturdays tend to split the family as Ekin and Alan are usually playing golf while Oliver and I are out and about. I’ve promised him a shopping trip to Dublin over the bank holiday weekend, so I’m sure my purse will be considerably lighter on the way home that weekend.

If we’re not doing that, then catching up with family and friends is a top priority. Sunday is a rather relaxed family day and we always make a point of spending it with my dad. I live in Dromore, so it’s lovely to get out into th.
