A Bolton headteacher has been crowned the best in the UK at a glittering awards ceremony. Lynn Williams walked away with TES Headteacher of the Year 2024, often known as the Oscars of the teaching world. Mrs Williams is head of St Peter's CE Primary School in Farnworth, which Ofsted has graded as outstanding, a mark it has celebrated since 2016.
She told The Bolton News: "It is an absolute honour to be named TES Headteacher of the year 2024. " Although in my name, the award recognises the work of the St Peter’s community - the parents, governors, staff and children, all of whom have supported me and my vision to create children who ‘contribute to and prosper in society’ through enabling them to 'Learn, Sparkle & Shine' "Farnworth is a wonderful place to work, and my heartfelt thanks also goes to my colleagues in the Farnworth and Bolton family. "It’s great to bring the trophy to our region.
" A panel of judges - including school leaders, experts and education researchers - helped select the 2024 winners who were announced at a gala ceremony at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel. Mrs Williams has received many congratulations from fellow teachers across Bolton. The Education Watchdog found that pupils at her school flourish "because leaders and staff have high expectations of children and pupils and provide them with the very best education that they can".
