The announcement was made in a social-media post by Ottawa Fire Services on Tuesday evening. The post said all open-air fires were prohibited, including on properties that had open-air fire permits.
“This ban applies to agricultural burns, brush pile burns as well as campfires,” the post added. Tuesday’s announcement marked the start of the second fire ban of the year in the Ottawa region. An earlier ban was announced by Ottawa Fire Services on March 24, though it was lifted about 10 days later.
