A vineyard in the county has been chosen as the official sparkling wine of a garden festival. Roebuck Estates is the first English sparkling wine to be chosen at the RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival in East Molesey, London, which attracts around 135,000 visitors annually. The wine producer was founded in 2013 and launched its first hand-crafted sparkling wine in 2019.
It has five vineyards in Sussex including in Petworth and Slinfold. READ MORE: Furniture shop could become beauty salon At the garden festival, which will take place from July 2 to 7, Roebuck Estates will have a sparkling wine tipi bar where visitors will be able to purchase the wine by the glass and bottle. The wine on offer will include three new wines that will also be available at bars and cafes throughout the palace’s grounds.
Roebuck’s head of viticulture Jake Wicks will host a talk on the ‘Get Growing Stage’ on July 7 and CEO of Roebuck Michael Kennedy will lead a talk on ‘A Golden Era of English Wine and Viticulture’. Mr Kennedy said: "We've always been of the belief that our sparkling wines can only taste as good as they do if our vineyards are thriving.
