A consultation is under way on proposals to install new electric vehicle (EV) charge points. Residents in Chichester are being given the opportunity to voice their opinions on the proposed locations set out by West Sussex County Council. The roads include Riverside, Stocks Lane, Highfield Lane in Oving, The Leys in Singleton, Crooked Lane in Birdham, Lower Culvers in South Harting and Peerley Close, Bracklesham Bay.
People living in these roads will receive a detailed letter about the proposals as part of the running four-week consultation, which will end on July 24. READ MORE: Rare ninth-century penny discovered in Sussex The proposed locations have been selected because either a resident has requested them or the area has been identified as having restricted off-road parking and an absence of public charge points nearby. Councillor Joy Dennis, West Sussex County Council cabinet member for highways and transport, said: "More and more people are making the switch to electric vehicles ahead of the ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel vehicles in 2035.
"We want to ensure we're able to support our residents with charging facilities, particularly in areas where people need to park in the street. "There will not be any changes to parking restrictions initially so residents without electric vehicles will still be able to park as normal. "Any possible changes to this approach in the future will go through a further consultation process.
