SPOKANE, Wash. — According to Planned Parenthood of Greater Washington and North Idaho (PPGWNI), health centers in Eastern Washington have seen patients from 20 different states since Roe v. Wade was overturned by the Supreme Court two years ago.
Planned Parenthood of Greater Washington and North Idaho says they have served abortion patients from 20 different states across the country, including Idaho, Florida, Georgia, Arizona, and Texas. Idaho currently has a complete ban on abortion, including in emergency situations. Planned Parenthood of Greater Washington and North Idaho also said they have expanded patient navigation services, hired additional medical staff, which includes fly-in clinicians, and increased the availability of abortion appointments at all health centers across eastern and central Washington.
CEO of Planned Parenthood Greater Washington and North Idaho, Karl Eastlund, released the following statement: “With their decision to overturn Roe nearly two years ago, the Supreme Court unleashed a national reproductive health crisis. As extreme anti-choice lawmakers in states across the country continue to roll back progress and enact cruel restrictions, we are making sure abortion services are accessible at our health centers in central and eastern Washington. We’re here for patients who are forced to travel long distances from states where leaders have abandoned the rights, health, privacy and safety of their residents.
