A HOSPITAL in Dublin has restricted visiting hours following an outbreak of two major illnesses. Tallaght Hospital has announced they are suspending all patient visits in circumstances of end of life care and critical illness due to an outbreak of Covid and Norovirus. The hospital has said it made the decision in order to protect staff, patients and visitors.

In a statement, they said: "Please note that visiting hours have been restricted. "This is in the interest of patient safety to protect your loved ones from exposure to COVID-19 & Norovirus, both of which are very prevalent in both the Hospital and community at the moment. "There is no visiting allowed, with the exception by prior arrangement with a patient’s medical team in the circumstances of end of life or critical illness.

"This includes no visiting anywhere on the Hospital campus i.e. inside or outside the Hospital/Car Park etc.

This is to protect your loved one, you and our healthcare staff." They also added that a patient care package service has been set up to allow family members to leave items for the patients . These packages can be dropped off at the main reception over the next few days between 2pm and 4pm.

The statement continued: "If you are unable to drop your care package between 2pm-4pm then please go to main reception and they will contact the Ward directly. Visitors that attempt to visit will be turned away. Thank you for your co-operation.

" Irish health officials have reported a huge surge in case.
