While the cool and wet July so far may have had some considering reaching for the thermostat at times, things are about to heat up with possibly the hottest temperatures of the year so far on the way very soon. Last week saw daytime highs of just 15C at its worst while overnight lows dropped well into single figures in some parts of northern Lincolnshire earlier in the month. However, the recovery of temperatures so far this week is set to push on even further with the mercury set to hit the high 20s on Friday.
While the day will mark exactly two years since the region - and country - saw record-breaking temperatures of up to 40C in some areas, it won't be anywhere near as sweltering this time but still much warmer than of late with highs between 26 and 29C forecast in our region - perhaps a little cooler nearer the coast. The highest temperatures are expected at around 4pm on Friday with the warmest conditions further inland. It should stay mostly sunny throughout, though some wetter interludes are possible, particularly later on Saturday and into Sunday with a chance of heavy and thundery shower.
