Beacons were lit at Antrim Castle Gardens and Mossley Mill on Thursday, June 6 as part of a UK-wide commemoration to mark the 80th anniversary of the iconic D-Day landings of June 6 1944. A free family fun day was on Saturday, June 8, at Sentry Hill in Newtownabbey , which included music of the 40s and 50s playing on the lawn, fascinating WWII memorabilia and a ‘living library’ made up of war veterans and ex-military personnel who were there to tell their stories.
