A woman is on a mission to show that BMI (Body Mass Index) shouldn't determine your health. Georgina Cox, a personal trainer from Middlesbrough, has a passion for . However, she confessed she spent a long time wrestling with her , prompting her to rethink her approach to "being fit".

Now at 33, she's candidly discussing her belief that BMI is an "outdated" measure. She argues it was "never meant to be used as it is today", and suggests it shouldn't be used to determine someone's health. Georgina told The Daily Star: "Someone who is 'healthy' according to BMI, despite being deeply unwell, would be denied ED treatment.



And someone who is 'obese', despite being healthy, would be denied IVF. "There are so many factors that encompass health yet these things are overlooked because of an arbitrary number. An arbitrary number that was created by a mathematician, not a medical professional.

" She's intimately familiar with how these numbers affect people, having experienced it first-hand. When she was at her thinnest, Georgina was told she had a "healthy" BMI, even though her physical appearance suggested otherwise. Reflecting on that period, Georgina recalled: "My hair was falling out, my periods stopped completely, I was sick constantly and I had no energy.

I was never fully present in my life because mentally and physically, I was exhausted. "Now, my BMI tells me I'm 'obese', but my hair is thicker, my periods have come back, I'm never sick and I'm so much more present in my life. S.
