Despite its high fat and sugar content, ice cream is also a rich source of calcium and protein, making it a healthier option compared to many other sweet treats. The key ingredients in ice cream make it a superior choice over certain sweets and cakes that are laden with similar amounts of fat and sugar but lack the beneficial nutrients. Dietitian Shelley Balls informed Yahoo Life that two-thirds of a cup of dairy ice cream contains about 12 per cent of the daily recommended intake of calcium.
