THE HSE has issued an alert to ensure Irish people across the country are regularly checking for signs of cancer. Stating that one in two people will get cancer in their lifetimes, the health executive is urging people to recognise the early signs. Sharing a post on X, formerly Twitter , the HSE said treatments are much more effective when caught early.

They said: "1 in 2 people in Ireland will get cancer in their lifetime. "Treatments and survival rates are better than ever, especially when cancer is found early." Diagnosing and treating any form of cancer in its early stages means you are much more likely to survive.



The chances of survival or treatment working become less when the cancer has grown bigger or has spread to other parts of your body. The HSE are urging the entire population to be aware of the possible signs and to know when to check with your GP. Cancer can change how your body normally looks, works or feels so if something changes, the symptoms to look out for include: This being said, if you notice anything unusual for you or someone you know, it is advised to get advice from your GP immediately.

The HSE are also advising people to know the signs of lung cancer and are running a study to see how awareness of the deadly illness is carried out in Ireland.
