Sodiq Ojuroungbe The Senate Committee on Health, Secondary and Tertiary Health Institutions, has revealed plans to embark on a mission to reform hospital finance systems towards strengthening healthcare infrastructure and fiscal responsibility in the country. The committee, led by its Chairman, Ipanibo Harry-Banigo, stated this during the committee’s oversight function at the Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, Ogun State. He commended the leadership of the hospital for living up to its mandate in the core areas of the provision of quality healthcare services to patients, laudable training programmes and research endeavours.
She also gave the Medical Director, Prof Adewale Musa-Olomu a tap at the back for what he described as impressive numerous infrastructural developments in the centre since he assumed office in 2017. Harry-Banigo explained that the purpose of the visit was to assess how the centre implemented the 2023 appropriation budget. Joined by the Provost and Medical Director of Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta, Dr Paul Agboola, the Health Committee Chairman expressed satisfaction with the two Medical Directors’ reports, explaining that her team is committed to improving the health sector.
She further assured the two Medical Directors of budget improvement including coming out with possible solutions that will help reduce some of the hospital’s recurring costs as raised in the reports. He assured Medical Directors of budget improvements and prop.
