KEARNEY — Time flies when you’re having fun, says an old cliché. That’s true for Cade Burrell. He can’t believe he’s been a registered nurse at Kearney Regional Medical Center for nearly 10 years, almost as long as the existence of Kearney’s second hospital.

He is a charge nurse in the medical-surgical unit and has earned his Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse Certification, which is a superior accomplishment. KRMC’s Cade Burrell enjoys running, training his dog and playing golf in his off-hours. “I enjoy being able to learn new things every day.

I love the challenges each day brings,” he said. He has nearly 14 years in the nursing field, including three years as a nursing assistant and 11 years as a registered nurse. The job isn’t always easy.

“Nursing is an extremely fast-paced career, so it pays to be organized and prepared,” he said. The Benkleman native attended McCook Community College for two years and earned an associate of science degree. He then earned a bachelor of science degree in nursing from the University of Nebraska Medical Center’s College of Nursing in Norfolk.

His nominator said his “hard work, dedication, and positive attitude have made a significant impact on the team and have contributed to the success of KRMC.” “Cade can manage multiple tasks during his shifts and continues to support his team throughout the shift,” the nominator said. Burrell has also been instrumental in ensuring the success of the EPIC Go-Live, KRM.
