HAMILTON — The Hamilton farmer's market continues to draw large crowds of vendors and guests as it is now over one month into the 2024 season. The market takes place each Saturday on the villages central green, with portions of roads being block off to ensure safety from traffic. Visitors can browse a wide range food products including fresh vegetables, fruits, seafood, breads, and ciders.
Additionally, there are many non-food offering available including flowers, glassware, custom wood creations, and handcrafted jewelry. Vendor Ede Walker, who sells her pottery, believes that the various offerings are a large part of the markets success, saying "I think the fact that the market allows products other than food and produce is a huge draw." Walker graduated from Hamilton Central School in 1972, and has been attending the market for many of the years since then.
She says that while the variety is important, she is still happy that the market is not focused too heavily on non-food products. "There is a balance," she said, "We do need to support our farmers." The market will continue to operate until October 26th.
Beyond the products available for purchase, there are also activities throughout the market that can provide entertainment for the whole family..
