It’s a bit battered but then this photo is nearly 90 years old. It shows Bolton’s Great Moor Street Station in 1936. Great Moor Street Station, Bolton , 1936 (Picture: Newsquest) At the time it was central to the town’s rail connections taking passengers all round the country.

The station closed in 1954, although some ‘holiday specials’ ran from there for a further four years. It was demolished in 1966 and the site would later be developed first for The Water Place and later for Morrison’s car park..
