Srinagar, June 25: Dr Shariq Rashid Masoodi, Professor and Head of the Department of Endocrinology at SKIMS, has been named Dean of the Medical Faculty at SKIMS. Renowned as J&K’s leading endocrinologist, Dr. Masoodi has significantly contributed to SKIMS’ development at various levels.
Dr. Masoodi boasts an impressive academic background and extensive postgraduate training. He earned his M.
B.B.S.
in December 1987 from Government Medical College Srinagar, under the University of Kashmir. He then completed his M.D.
in Medicine in April 1993 at the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, affiliated with SKIMS Deemed University. Pursuing further specialisation, Dr. Masoodi received a D.
M. in Endocrinology in December 2003 from the esteemed Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh. Additionally, he obtained a Fellowship in Personalised and Genomic Diabetes Medicine in August 2014 from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Baltimore, MD, demonstrating his commitment to staying at the forefront of medical advancements.
SKIMS in a statement said currently, Dr Masoodi is a key figure in Endocrinology, with a distinguished career marked by diverse roles and achievements. Apart from leading the Department of Endocrinology, he oversees Pediatric Endocrinology services at SKIMS, specialising in diabetes and endocrine disorders in children.
