Lewis Daines, from Crawley in West Sussex, suffered the persistent cough for three months before visiting his GP in February. But it was only after he began experiencing pain in his shoulders and chest that he visited A&E, where he was diagnosed with pneumonia .



The 35-year-old was forced to return just two weeks later, however, after his symptoms failed to subside. Scans showed the advanced nurse practitioner had a cancerous golf ball-sized mass in his right lung.
