Experts have weighed in on how to go to the loo more frequently and have also discussed how often one should expect themselves in the bathroom. The number one question they receive about number twos is how many times one should be pooping, but they insist there's no definitive answer as it varies from person to person. Dr Anju Malieckal, a board-certified gastroenterologist at NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn, told TODAY that everyone's bowel movement schedule differs.

She elaborated that while some people may find themselves pooping daily, others might only have a bowel movement every two to three days. Jena Casper, a nurse practitioner in gastroenterology at the Mayo Clinic Health System, explained that some individuals struggle with bowel movements when away from home, whether at work, on holiday or even at a friend's house - a situation she termed "vacation constipation". As we age, our bowel movements also change, which can result in stool staying in the colon for longer periods and taking more time to pass through the body, reports the Express .



However, Dr Christine Lee, a gastroenterologist at Cleveland Clinic, emphasised that frequency of bowel movements isn't necessarily indicative of better health. She clarified: "It's really not about how often you go to the bathroom. What's more important is how well you got the job done.
