A man has suffered potentially serious injuries in a ‘fall from height’ into a quarry. Emergency services were called to Belmont Road, where it is surrounded by moorland, just before 9pm last night. A spokesman for North West Ambulance Service said: “We responded to a patient following a call at 20.

43 reporting a patient had fallen from height. “An ambulance crew, advanced paramedic and solo responding paramedic attended offering immediate care. “A man was taken to hospital with potentially serious injuries.



” Bolton Mountain Rescue Team was also called to the incident to rescue the man from the bottom of the quarry. A spokesman for Bolton Mountain Rescue Team said: “The incident involved 28 members of our team in a 320-metre removal of the casualty from the bottom of the quarry. “We used a scoop stretcher, a wheeled stretcher and a vacuum mattress.

” The circumstances of the fall are unknown, but the area is popular with walkers and climbers. Climbers have attempted Wilton Quarries, which are between Scout Road and Belmont Road. In 2019, Bolton Mountain Rescue volunteers rescued a climber after a quarry fall.
