Ashkenazi had been with the company for over two decades. Before taking the role of finance chief, Ashkenazi was senior vice president, controller, and chief financial officer of Lilly Research Laboratories.
An internal and external search for her successor is actively underway, the company said. Shares in the company were up 0.3% in premarket trade.
