EDITORIAL The coalition Government ’s appointments of former National Party leader Simon Bridges to chair NZ Transport Authority Waka Kotahi (NZTA) and former Deputy Prime Minister Paula Bennett to chair Pharmac appear to be wise choices. Bridges was appointed NZTA chair in March and Bennett to the Pharmac board a few weeks later in April – five weeks out from the coalition’s first Budget . Both appointments appear a perfect fit for the National-led Government, which wanted to stamp its mark quickly on a number of critical areas of concern for New Zealanders.
Roading and healthcare are near the top of the Government’s wish list..
