The driver of the “blocker truck” was also transported to hospital by ambulance with serious injuries, also in stable condition. Neither’s injuries were life-threatening, the Ottawa Paramedic Service said.
Highway 416 was closed initially both northbound at Roger Stevens Drive and southbound at Bankfield Road. The northbound lanes were expected to reopen in late afternoon, Ontario Provincial Police posted online at 4:30 p.m.
