Two recent donations from the Eel River Valley Foundation will benefit seniors living in the Fortuna area. The local organization donated $3,000 to Meals on Wheels and the Redwood Coast Program for the All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), both of which are programs administered by the Humboldt Senior Resource Center. Redwood Coast PACE Director Barbara Lahaie said the program is currently serving more than 50 Eel River Valley residents.

“Redwood Coast PACE provides comprehensive health care and support services that help our most vulnerable elders stay in their homes as long as possible,” Lahaie said. Some of the services provided through Redwood Coast PACE include adult day health care, primary medical care and medical specialty services, personal care and in-home assistance, physical, occupational, speech and recreational therapy, social work services and family support, nutritional counseling, meal planning, and home delivered meals. Half of the Eel River Valley Foundation donation is specifically earmarked for the Meals on Wheels service provided by the Humboldt Senior Resource Center.
