A doctor has warned there are three major errors many of us make when it comes to applying sunscreen, which could have serious implications for our health . Dr Sarah Tranter took to TikTok to highlight these common mistakes.

Firstly, she pointed out people often neglect to wear sunscreen all year round, which is crucial for skin protection. Some people also select the wrong type of lotion for their skin, which can be problematic. It's also important to reapply throughout the day to maintain adequate protection from the sun. She also noted that people often miss key areas when applying sunscreen. She urged individuals not to overlook their eyelids, ears, neck and hands.

The NHS warns that sunburn increases your risk of skin cancer . It's essential to remember sunburn isn't just a holiday hazard – you can burn your skin in the UK, even on cloudy days. Therefore, it's vital to stay vigilant and protect your skin at all times.
