A Surgoinsville woman named in a June 3 Hawkins County Grand Jury sealed indictment on meth trafficking charges was arrested last Saturday after Church Hill police observed her walking along Highway 11-W. CHPD Officer Blake Perry stated in his report that on June 23, shortly after 10 p.m.
, he passed a woman later identified as Sarah Noel Leath , 43, of Surgoinsville, walking on the shoulder of 11-W near West Main Boulevard. Perry reported that he made contact with Leath to see if she needed assistance. She identified herself and stated she was walking to an address on Surgoinsville Creek Road.
Perry reported that he offered to give her a ride, and while en route checked her status with Central Dispatch. Leath was found to be wanted on two counts of sale of meth and two counts of maintaining a dwelling where narcotics are kept or sold. The separate crimes were alleged to have taken place on Feb.
7, 2023, and Feb. 15, 2023. Leath was being held in the Hawkins County Jail on $50,000 bond pending arraignment in Criminal Court on Aug.
30. Other recently served sealed indictments include: Matthew Orion Boyd , 26, of Mooresburg, for aggravated burglary and aggravated assault. Boyd is accused of entering a residence without the owner’s consent on June 20, 2020, and causing an occupant of that residence to fear imminent bodily injury by using a deadly weapon, an AR-15 rifle.
The sealed indictment was issued on Dec. 6, 2021. William Chase Mosey , 40, of Morristown, was named in a Jun.
