A feud between neighbours flared into violence when two men struck another man with a cycle handlebar and a metal spirit level, a court heard. Brothers Tom Pearson and Nathan Pearson reacted violently when the other man hit one of them with a baseball bat in an alley off Lime Street, Grimsby. Both the brothers admitted assault on November 22 last year, when they appeared at Grimsby Crown Court .

Tom Pearson, 23, of Saunders Street, Grimsby and brother Nathan, 22, of Lime Street had been involved in a feud with the other man for sometime, prosecutor, Chloe Pinches told the court. At 4.



30pm the neighbour heard voices in the alleyway at the back of his garden. Miss Pinches said there was a verbal argument which resulted in the neighbour taking a baseball bat to one of them. Tom Pearson picked up a nearby bicycle handlebar and launched an attack on the man, striking him twice over the head.

His brother grabbed a metal spirit level which was lying nearby and also struck the man twice on the head. Miss Pinches said: "He (Tom) accepts it went beyond self-defence" She added the victim required staples and glue to the injuries to his head when he attended hospital.
