An old bungalow could be demolished and replaced with three luxury new homes. Properties with cinema rooms and spas could be built on the site in Ainsworth Avenue, Ovingdean, if plans are approved. Each one would have leisure facilities on the basement floor including a cinema room, gym equipment and a sauna.

It said the location was chosen as the new homes would make best use of the site, which is currently home to a deteriorating bungalow. A spokesman for Wilbury Planning said: "The existing bungalow and detached garage has no architectural merit and is in poor condition with damp issues, sub-standard insulation and sound proofing and low energy efficiency. "The intention of the applicant is to ensure the most efficient and effective use of this windfall site through its development to provide three dwellings which in turn will enhance the local area and deliver housing for which there is an acute demonstrated need.
