Travellers say they'll be "left on the streets" after the council started action to evict them from a caravan site where they've lived for 20 years. Bolton Council began the process to close down Crompton Lodge in Bolton , Lancashire, this week in response to " escalating violence and criminality". But travellers facing eviction say they are "fighting for their babies' home".

They say they have nowhere to go and have kept it in good condition. The council announced it would be applying for a closure order to ban access to the Crompton Lodge caravan park. They say this followed an “unacceptable level of crime” including incidents involving drugs, firearms sales and violent crime .

The electric bills are right up to date, every single thing is right up to date. “We have kept it in a good condition. (Image: SWNS) “I have said to the council I will set up a camera and a gate if I get money from them.

“We have had to supply ourselves with diesel to generate electricity. “I have had to pay for that with inheritance from people who have passed before. “We have got nowhere to go.

“We cannot go anywhere. We are going to fight it to the end. This is our home.
