An MP is calling for more speed cameras to be installed on a road which has been the scene of a number of crashes, some fatal. The most recent tragedy to strike on St Helens Road in Daubhill took place on June 22 this year when 63-year-old grandmother Karen Kimblin was killed in a crash. Although this collision is under investigation, it has prompted renewed calls for action to be taken to make the road safer.
It was the latest in a series of crashes on the road and Bolton South and Walkden MP Yasmin Qureshi has now written to the council calling for urgent action to be taken. She said: “We have been complaining about the road, about the problems and all the accidents for some time now and no one has dealt with it. “It’s really important and urgent that all the relevant bodies involved in speed cameras and road safety put their heads together and not pass the buck.
