A Bolton man attempted to take driving theory tests for other people in the town - as well as in Manchester, Preston and Liverpool. Abdikarim Omar was told his conduct was a “massive undermining of systems that the public rely on” as he was jailed. He advertised his services on YouTube and said he could do the theory test for other people.
Bolton Crown Court heard he turned up at the Bolton Test Centre in February and September 2022, at the centre in Preston and Liverpool in January of the same year and at a centre in Manchester in August of 2022. On each of these occasions, suspicion was drawn and he was revealed to be a person of interest to the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA). In September 2022 he was arrested and gave a false name to the police before he admitted doing the tests.
Emily Woodside, prosecuting, said one person from Bolton had come forward who had got Omar to do the test for him. She said: “He encountered the defendant on YouTube, he offered his services. He met him at a café near the Manchester Superstore.
“He told the defendant his English was not good. The defendant took a picture of his card. “In the summer he noticed £50 had been taken from his bank card.
“He returned to the café and was told by the defendant he had failed on two occasions but had passed on the third.” Read more: Woman hits out as fence damaged again and again Read more: Bolton's most wanted Read more: Arrests at caravan park Omar, 34, from Heywood Gardens, .
