A business is bidding to add five floors to its base on the edge of the town centre to form an accommodation block for students at the University of Bolton . The applicant, Akbar Patel of AA Properties and Sons Limited, applied for outline planning permission for the site on Thynne Street at the end of last month. Currently, it is the site of AA Performance Cars Limited , but the business is bidding to add five floors to its base on the edge of the town centre to form an accommodation block.
The bottom floor would be a showroom as it is today but the rest of the floors would be standalone studios for students at the University of Bolton . Each of these studios, of which there would be almost 100, would have its own facilities but there would be other facilities like a common room and a gym. The application said the accommodation block, close to another accommodation block in the form of Orlando Village, is perfectly placed as a result of its proximity to the university and to the rest of the town centre.
The architects are Form Architects who are responsible for comparable developments in other areas of the North West including Lancaster and Liverpool.
