Motorists faced nearly four miles of queues and delays of more than an hour after a crash on the A27. People trying to get from Portslade to Shoreham yesterday faced stop-start traffic after the accident which happened at around 9am. The driver had a lucky escape after hitting the central reservation barrier but the road was closed westbound between the A283 and A2025 for hours while contractors from National Highways worked to fix the damaged bridge parapet .
