We all love the sun - but have you ever noticed you're more prone to a breakout during summer ? Feeling the warmth and the rays on your skin can be a great feeling, but it's important to also look after your skin. But if you do suffer from breakouts more than usual in summer, that's totally normal. There are a number of things that can wreak havoc on your skin, from pore-clogging SPF to harsh chemicals and chlorine from swimming.
So knowing how to properly look after your skin for a pimple-free summer is important. Dr Sonia Khorana a dermatology expert has shared some advice to those who may be partial to a summer spot or two. If you're already prone to breakouts, the expert stated that the increase in humidity and head can lead to more "oil production" which will then lead to even more breakouts.
"I would recommend cleansing twice daily (ideally with a salicylic acid-based cleanser) but make sure it has to hydrate and barrier supporting ingredients in there too (like squalane, glycerin, ceramides)," Dr Sonia explained and also suggested opting for a lightweight oil-free moisturiser. We all know the importance of slapping on the sunscreen, but Dr Sonia advised it should be at least factor 30 and a "broad-spectrum" with SPF. Broad spectrum means the sunscreen protects you from both UVA and UVB rays but also blue light and pollution (like the AlumierMD SPF's).
