Grace Edema Poised to boost services at its facility, the Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital in Benin City has introduced some cutting-edge medical services, including surgery, obstetrics/gynaecology, cardiology, and neurology to its services. In a statement by the Chief Medical Director/CEO of FNPH, Dr Imafidon Agbonile on Saturday, it was noted that the inclusion was meant to reduce the stigma associated with mental illness by integrating mental health care with specialised treatments. “This expansion represents a major milestone in the hospital’s ongoing efforts to provide holistic and integrated healthcare services to the general public.
The hospital also boasts a state-of-the-art molecular laboratory, radio-diagnostic facilities, 4-D ultrasound services, and immunization, among others,” the statement read. The CMD stated that the introduction of these new medical services was aimed at broadening the scope of care available to patients and addressing the pervasive stigma associated with mental illness. He added, “By offering a diverse range of medical services within a single institution, the hospital fosters a more inclusive environment that normalises seeking treatment for both mental and physical health issues.
