A child contracted the infection and authorities said that the patient had been infected in India but made a ull recovery. The H5N1 strain of the flu has, in the recent years, killed billions of wild birds, farmers and spread to mammal species as well. This case is a first in both humans and animals and according to the health authorities in Australia’s southeastern state of Victoria, contact tracing was not effective in identifying other cases of the same. This is why the chances of others getting infected due to the flu are low.
