A 12-year-old boy died at a hospital after Orange County firefighters and Irvine police responded to Wild Rivers waterpark for a medical aid call on Saturday morning, June 22, authorities said. Orange County firefighters were called to the park just past 11:05 a.m.

Karie Davies, an Irvine Police Department spokeswoman, said that the coroner’s office will rule on the cause of death. Police have ruled out any crime, Davies said. The Coroner’s Office will rule on the cause of death.

In a statement posted on Facebook, Wild Rivers officials said the boy “experienced a non-water, but medical related incident outside one of our pools. “Despite the swift response from our team and emergency services, he sadly passed away later at the hospital,” the statement continued. “Our hearts go out to the boy’s family and loved ones during this difficult time,” Wild Rivers officials said.
