A total of 11 Sussex businesses have been included in a government list of deliberate tax defaulters released this week. The details, published by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC), "name and shame" people and businesses who have been given financial penalties for failing to comply with tax obligations or deliberately filing errors in tax returns. HMRC's current list of deliberate tax defaulters , the latest edition of which was published on July 9, features Sean Slade, of Graham Avenue, Brighton , and Danut-Vasile Bud, of Ashdown Road, Worthing, among others.
According to the list, Mr Slade, a carpenter, was charged total penalties of £15,408.41 on £27,515.05 of tax defaulted between April 2016 to April 2017, and April 2019 to April 2021.
Meanwhile, builder Mr Bud was charged £25,229.20 in penalties on £41,190.56 of tax defaulted in the three years from April 2019 to April 2022.
Across Sussex, businesses have been charged penalties totalling £2,580,834.65.
